Greeks under Persecution

The Hellenic Population of Asia Minor

By Dr. Evangelia Boubougiatzi Boyer

This September marks 100 years since the burning of Smyrna and the exodus of Hellenes from Asia Minor. What led to their violent persecution, and how was the plot laid for their expulsion from their ancestral land? What awaited them when they settled in Greece?

Οι Έλληνες της Μικράς Ασίας
Οι Έλληνες των Διωγμών
Φέτος συμπληρώνονται 100 χρόνια από την καταστροφή της Σμύρνης και την έξοδο των Ελλήνων από τη Μικρά Ασία. Ποιοι ήταν οι λόγοι που οδήγησαν στο βίαιο διωγμό τους και πως μεθοδεύτηκε η εκδίωξη τους από τη γη των πατέρων τους; Τέλος, πως ήταν η επόμενη μέρα για τους πρόσφυγες στην Ελλάδα;

Dr. Evangelia Boubougiatzi Boyer, a graduate of Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, has taught at Western Macedonia University and for Holy Cross School of Theology, edited histories and authored two books: The Greek Population of Ionia (20th Century), and Amygdaleonas, Kavala: Rootings and Blossomings.
