The Hellenic-American Cultural Center and Museum (HACCM) has been awarded $7,445 to help support the Four Corners: Hellenic Map of Oregon project. This includes $4,475 from The Oregon Heritage Commission and $2,970 from The America 250 Oregon Commission. The project will expand HACCM’s network across the state and grow the museum’s collection to include perspectives on Greek American experiences outside of the Portland metro area. HACCM staff and volunteers will travel to various cities in Oregon and Southwest Washington to connect with individuals and communities, conducting oral history interviews and hosting “scan-a-thon” events, where individuals can bring photos and other archival materials to be digitized. Work on this project will begin in late 2026 and conclude in early 2027.
The Four Corners project moves forward HACCM’s mission of gathering, preserving, and sharing Hellenic (Greek) American experiences in Oregon and Southwest Washington. HACCM plans to share the information gathered over the course of this project through future exhibitions, public programs, podcast episodes, and other platforms.
The Oregon Heritage Commission grant is awarded to applicants who demonstrate a willingness to support, develop, and interpret Oregon heritage. The America 250 Oregon Commission was created in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding. The grant program helps non-profit organizations foster inclusive, diverse, and community focused projects that demonstrate Oregon’s diverse history.
